(PIC) Next Tuesday, student Musicians and Artists of the St. Paul public schools will unite for the Ordway Honers Concert. About 50% of participants will be representatives from Central. The concert, which takes place at the Ordway in downtown St. Paul at 7:00, will showcase a Choir, an Orchastra, a Concert band and an art gallery.

(PIC) Central senior Megan Howard has been recognized for her athletic and academic success with the Athena Award. Megan is an all conference captain for the volleyball team, a standout basketball player, and a letter winner in both Softball and Track and field. She participates in many school clubs such as, link crew, habitat for humanity and student council. Congatulations Megan for this well deserved honor.

Last Monday, Centrals "Seeds of Change" received a AARP Legacy reward of $10,000. Seeds of Change was chosen out of 52 schools in the country to win the award. On May 16th Seeds of Change will be an opening act for CTT at Concordia College, performing a play about the gap of academic achievement for black males.

A representive from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College will be here at 8:30 a.m., next thursday in the CRC, followed by a Destination 2010 meeting at 9:15a.m.

This week is National Library Week. Wednesday's contest winner is Brittany Reeves from Mrs. Treichel's Advisory. The winning title was "Fallen Angels" by Walter Dean Myers. The clues for today's mystery book are: 1. Set in Earth's future around 2135 where mankind barely survives attacks by an alien species. 2. Andrew, the main character, trains to become Earth's fleet commander and receives a new name. 3. Part of a series dealing with long term effects of war. 4. The author has received many science fiction awards for his books. 5. The author named his own five children after other authors he admires. Turn guesses into the Library with the title, author, your name and your Advisory. Winners will receive a $10 gift certificate to Barnes&Nobles.

Today there is a required meeting for students taking AP exams. Students meet in the auditorium during third period. All students who do not attend this meeting will not be taking the exams.

There will be a short M.S.A. meeting tommorrow afterschool in Ms. Baer's room, RM 567.

This Saturday from 4pm to 7pm Central will be hosting the "Hear My Voice Are You Listening" Youth Rally. Everyone is welcome to attend, the event is free of charge. There will be entertainment, public officials, and guest from B96.

Yesterday the Softball team destroyed the Arlington Pheonix 17 to 6. Maia Walhberg was the winning pitcher, Shelby Week helped out the Minutemaids with a grand slam. The girls take on the Johnson Governors tommorow at Dunning at 4:00.

Tonight at 3:15 Central's track and field team competes against highland, arlington, and humboldt at Central.

Last night Central's badmiton team lost against the Highland Scotts 4 to 3. The teams next game is tomorrow at 3:15 here at Central against the Johnson Governors.

Boy's Tennis defeated the Como Cougars 5-2 yesterday.The Tennis team plays against Humboldt tommorrow at 3:15p.m.

The Central Minutemen Baseball team opened their conference season by crushing the Arlington Pheonix 12 to 1. The Minutemen scored 9 runs in the first inning, and scored once in the 3rd and 2 more times in the 4th inning. Wyatt Danz was the winning pitcher and only allowed one run. Some highlights were Dan Merkl going 2 for 3 with 3 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. The boys next game is friday at 4:00 against the defending conference champions the Como Park Cougars.
