This summer Community Education is offering trainings to become a Red Cross Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor or Water Safety Aide. Successful completion of these trainings could lead to potential employment opportunities this fall. If you are interested stop by the Community Ed office in room 241.

(PICS) The 5th Annual Central High school "Intuit" Art Exhibit began on May 29 at Concordia University Art Gallery, and since then have drawn a large crowd. The Exhibit runs through June 12th, gallery hours are 9am -5pm Monday- Friday. Be sure to go see this exhibit. Its free!

Sophomore Andrew Lewis represents the Minutemen track team tomorrow at the state tournament. He will be running the 100 meter and 200 meter and the meet will take place at Hamline University.

The Staff and Faculty Softball team led by Hardball Hutchinson, Jumpin' Jordahl, Jivin' Jacobs, Hard Hitting Herman, Crazy Colbert, Wild Man Wetjen and Slammin Shippman, play the Central Girl's Softball team in a slow pitch softball game today after school at 3:00 at Dunning Field. This is open for all to attend.

(PICS) On June 1st 2009 a fellow Central student Daishonna Payne passed away do to a horrific car accident. To many, Daishonna was a kindhearted, loving, and free spirited young lady. Daishonna will be missed dearly by family friends and team mates. We all send prayers to her family and in her honor we ask for a moment of silence.

Congratulations to junior Monica Lee who has been accepted as a Page in the U.S. House of Representatives this summer. She received an acceptance letter from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. This is an exciting program and a great honor to be excepted.

Central's INTUIT art show is currently taking place at Concordia University's art center and will continue through the end of the school year. They are many works of art from Central students and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Roots and Shoots will have their end of the year party today after school at 2:15 in room 207. The party will include food, arts and crafts, and a movie. Everyone is invited.

Tonight at 8 pm at the Roy Wilkins auditorium in downtown St. Paul, Central hosts its annual graduation. The class of 2009 is the 98th class to graduate from Central. The keynote address will be given by Chris Wilbourn, a former Minuteman and member of the band Highrospecs. The selected student speaker for the evening is Lenora Wilson, who will also perform a musical number with Jamond Glass and Cameron Randall later at the ceremony. The band will play, the choir will sing, and the Star Spangled Banner will be sung by Yunuen Avila. Congratulations to the class of 2009.

Senior and Junior advisory teachers are reminded that they need to be at the Roy Wilkins audtiorium by 7:15 pm.

Today is the last day of high school for the class of 2009. At 1:50, Seniors must meet in the lobby. They will then count down the last moments of school, with an official countdown of the last 30 seconds. Together, the Seniors will walk out under their class banner and will pass through a wall of red and black balloons as the 2:00 bell rings. Meet at Malcolm Kerr's car in the front for some music and dancing.

Today is the last chance for Seniors to get their Caps and Gowns in all 3 lunches in the auditorium and after school from 2:15 to 3:00.

Last night the under graduate honor awards were presented to over 400 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Parents and family watched while students received recognition for their accomplishments in academics, athletics, music, the performing arts, visual arts, and service activities of all kinds.

Yesterday was the Student Council annual end of the year celebration. This celebration was to welcome in new student council members, induct new M-Team members, sign up for homecoming committees, and honor the graduating senior Student council members. They had food and games to keep everyone entertained.

Yesterday at Stillwater High School The 4AA Championship track and field meet was held. 17 Central Runners placed in this meet. Sophomore Andrew Lewis qualified for state in the 100 meter and 200 meter. Lets wish Andrew the best at state!!!

Yesterday, over 100 Seniors participated in the Annual Rent-A-Senior day. It is an opportunity for underclassmen or teachers to have Seniors do whatever they want for only $1 a senior. Seniors performed tasks such as carrying backpacks, saying or doing silly things in the hall ways, singing, wearing extreme outfits, chanting underclassmen names, and binging snacks to teachers. For most Seniors, teachers, and underclassmen, it was very enjoyable.
