The Central Math Team vaulted into a state wide tie for first place with Eden Prairie on Monday, November 26 at the second meet of the season at Central High school. Martin Camacho led the team with a perfect score of 14. Other top scorers were Jonathan Schellenberg, John Pavlovich, Nathan Taylor and Ellen Rice. The Math Team continues its quest towards the state high school math team championship. The Minutemen next competition in the third meet of the season on Monday, December 17 at Arlington High School.

How often during the school day do students get to fake flesh wounds and learn how to fight? Well over over one hundred students did so on Tuesday at the Park Square Theater. They also saw the the play "Of Mice and Men." Here is Dorothy Her with the story.

Tonight, Central's Fall musical Pirates of Penzance will open for it's first public performance. Central Morning News reporter Wyatt Danz visited a Pirate's rehersal and got some info on what to expect.

Once again, the play opens tonight in the Central auditorium at 7pm. There will also be shows tomorrow at 2 and 7 pm and a closing show on Sunday also at 2. The tickets will cost 7 dollars for adults but only 5 dollars for students. Come out and support Central theater.

(IMMERSION DAY PICS)Yesterday 133 students from Central High school went to Park Square Theatre for the annual Immersion day. There they attended workshops, seminars, and a production of John Steinbecks play "Of Mice and Men." Highlights included Stage Combat with Central graduate and Marine Corps Veteran Don Preston, and special effect make up with Tess Bundick who put knife gashes and bullet holes on students heads.

Friday November 23, Central Defeated Totino Grace during the Hamline University Tournement by 71 to 50 which qualified them to play in the championship game. In the championship game Central was defeated by Centennial 60 to 56 on Saturday. Some of Central's star players were Theairra Taylor with 17 points and Georgie Jones with 14 points. Central lead at the half but came up short to the state Number 2 ranked Centennial Cougars.

The Central High School Math Team took the lead in the St. Paul City Division in the State High School Math League last Monday, November 5th. The 102 point score put the Minutemen in 3rd place in the state. Leading the Minutemen Junior Jonathan Schellenberg scored a perfect 14. Martin Camacho, Danie Monahan, Ellen Rice, and Jennifer Wei scored 12 points each. Also receiving individual 12's were John Madison, Leif Park Jordan, John Pavlovich, and Nathan Taylor. The Math team competes again on Monday, November 26 at Central .

(Vid)Last Thursday was the Sadies Hawkins Dance. The theme was Western Ranch and girls asked the guys to this dance. It was held at The Crown Plaza in downtown St.Paul. About 600 sudents attended the dance. The dJ was Vance McKain. Couples came dressed alike. Many came dressed in the western theme.

4 Central girls swimmers will compete at the State meet this weekend at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The relay team of Libby Arnosti, Paige Norman, Megan Pera and Laura Biery will swim the 200 medly relay and the 400 free style. Co Captain Biery also swims the 200 medly and the 500 free. Last Friday, November 2nd, Mexican Americans celebrated Dia De Los Muertos. (VCR-VID) Centrals BROWN group hosted a celebration in Centrals Cafeteria honoring Life After Death. Selected Spanish classes listened to a short speech about Dia De Los Muertos and were given a chance to try different Mexican Traditional foods, such as Tortillas, Mexican Rice, Enchiladas, beans and desert cake dishes made by BROWN members.

Yesterday Central's Concert Choir participated in the 105th annual Saint Olaf Choral Festival. Central was 1 of 3 featured choirs to sing in the concert. They sang 3 of their own pieces and 4 songs with the Saint Olaf Choral enssemble directed by world renound Dr. Antwone Armstrong. There were over 1400 singers at the day long event. Congratulations to Mrs. Graber and the Concert Choir for this great honor.

Last friday he 35W Bridge Crarity Concert took place in the Black Box. The concert started at 6 p.m. and went until 10 p.m. Over 100 people came in attendence, raising over 400 dollars. Seven spectacular bands performed with three solo acts including,: Menzana Caza, Going Postal, More than Useless, Mani Strings and D.J. Drumma Boy, Post Mercury, The Switch, and Just The End. There were solo acts by Kymyle Mims, Andre Borka and Darnell Overton. It was a great concert for a great cause. Stay tuned after the news for more footage.

Kemal Jarso represented St. Paul Central at the Minnesota State High School Cross Country Championship last Saturday. He finished the 5,000 meter course in a personal best time of 16 minutes and 09 seconds. Kemal finished 15th out of 156 competitors in the AA race and was named to the all-state cross country team for his effort. He was also the second best Sophomore runner in the state of Minnesota!

Today, The traditional Holiday Dia De Los Muertos, also known as The Day Of The Dead is being celebrated mainly in mexico and in the United States by the Mexican Immigrant Community. The celebration started yesterday known as All Saints' Day and continues through today. The traditional mood is much brighter with emphasis on celebrating and honoring life after death. The deceased Children (los Angelitos or the angels) are given toys and the Adults are given Tequila.

Retake pictures for yearbook and picture packages are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 6th from 7 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.. Bad pictures caused by the photographer will be retaken for free - all other retakes must be paid for -by a small fee. Students wanting picture packages can pick up an order form to bring on Tuesday to order pictures.
