Today is the last day of high school for the class of 2009. At 1:50, Seniors must meet in the lobby. They will then count down the last moments of school, with an official countdown of the last 30 seconds. Together, the Seniors will walk out under their class banner and will pass through a wall of red and black balloons as the 2:00 bell rings. Meet at Malcolm Kerr's car in the front for some music and dancing.

Today is the last chance for Seniors to get their Caps and Gowns in all 3 lunches in the auditorium and after school from 2:15 to 3:00.

Yesterday was the Student Council annual end of the year celebration. This celebration was to welcome in new student council members, induct new M-Team members, sign up for homecoming committees, and honor the graduating senior Student council members. Yesterday at Stillwater High School The 4AA Championship track and field meet was held. 17 Central Runners placed in this meet. Sophomore Andrew Lewis qualified for state in the 100 meter and 200 meter. Lets wish Andrew the best at state!!!

Yesterday, over 100 Seniors participated in the Annual Rent-A-Senior day. It is an opportunity for underclassmen or teachers to have Seniors do whatever they want for only $1 a senior. Seniors performed tasks such as carrying backpacks, saying or doing silly things in the hall ways, singing, wearing extreme outfits, chanting underclassmen names, and binging snacks to teachers. For most Seniors, teachers, and underclassmen, it was very enjoyable.

Central hosts the undergrad honor awards program Thursday night at 7 in the auditorium.

(PICS) Yesterday was Memorial Day, where the nation paused to honor members of the armed forces who died in the course of protecting our country. Living veterans are also honored on this day. A service was held at Fort Snelling, attended by thousands, and many small communities had parades, services, honor guards, and firing squads, and participated in decorating the graves of veterans, a practice which gave the holiday its original name, "Decoration Day."

Last night was senior honors night and next week will be the undergraduate's honors program on Thursday May 28th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

On Monday Americans across the country and across the world will be celebrating Memorial Day. Memorial day was originally called Decoration Day and began on May 30 1868 to honor Civil War dead. It officially became Memorial Day in 1967. The purpose of Memorial day is to commemorate and memoralize men and women who died serving in the armed forces of the United States. One of the main celebrations in the Twin Cities will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, thousands will be in attendance.

Next Tuesday May 26th is Senior Hush Day. The point of Senior Hush day is for Seniors not to talk to any underclassman and if they do the underclassman takes their hush pass and redeems it for a prize, but if the Senior does not talk to any underclassman then they can keep their hush pass and redeem it for their prize at the end of the day. Educational discussions in class do not count. Seniors will pick up their Hush Day passes in the morning prior to school.

Next Wednesday Central High School Theater will present The Beginning Acting's Community Performance and Centrals SYNERGY"s featuring scene on homeless titled "Home" And Woodbury's High School SYNERGY and Hip hop team . Performances start at 7pm in the Black box.we encourage everyone to come!

Last night the Central Minutemen baseball team suffered a tough loss to the Cretin Derham Hall raiders in the first round of the section tournament 6-2. the game was close the whole way but the raiders pulled ahead with a 3 run 6th inning. The minutemens season is now over but they had a great year and look to come back even stronger next year.

The 11th seeded Central boys baseball team takes on arch rival the 6th seeded Cretin Durham Hall Raiders today at 4:15 at Cretin.

Cross Country running has an informational meeting in room 262 after school today.

Yesterday the Conference Finals for Boys and Girls track were completed. The Boys finished in second behind Highland Park with a score of 153. The Girls finished in first with a score of 186. Winners include Kamal Jarso in the 1600 meters, Kelin Dunfee in the 800 meters, Lenora Wilson in discus and Lexie Millet in the Triple Jump. The Girls wons the 4 by 100 relays and both the boys are girls won the 4 by 800. The conference season is now over and the teams will compete in sections next week.

The Central HS Math Team celebrated its 2008-2009 season with a banquet Tuesday evening at Peking Garden.The team's season ended with 1st place in the St. Paul City Division, a tie for 3rd at the state tournament. Team captains Jennifer Wei and Jonathan Schellenberg presented Ms. Mackbee the division plaque for their 1st place finish. Leading scorers were Martin Camacho, Jennifer Wei, Jonathan Schellenberg, Leif Park Jordan, and Max Timmons. Next Years captains Martin Camacho and Ben Lewis.

Yesterday the Central Boys & Girls Track and Field teams competed in the preliminary stages of Conference Finals. Highlights include Lexie Millet winning the triple jump, Lenora Wilson winning the discus and both Kamal Jarso and Anna Schmidts placing 2nd in the 2 mile. Currently the Girls are in 1st place with 58 ahead of Highland Park by 7. The boys are in 2nd place behind Highland Park by 9. The meet will conclude on Wednesday.

The Central Minutemen Track and Field team compete in a Saint Paul City Conference Meet today at 3:15 in Griffin Stadium.There will be a short meeting for Central Tack and field athletes and coaches prior to the meet at 2:45.

Yesterday the Central Softball team crushed the Humboldt Hawks 15-0 in five innings. Maia Wahlberg got a six hitter, Sam Cooper went three for three and Yadira Sevilla had an amazing grand slam. This was Central's last conferance game, ending there overall season 5-10.

After their performance and a question and answer conversation with councelors, CTT members attended a semi-formal dinner and enjoyed the local waterpark.

As a result, they are hosting 3 other schools in the first 2 rounds tomorrow after school. Central faces Minneapolis Southwest in the first round. Central minutemen Melik Glass, Daanjerae Johnson, Davion John, and Leon Lockhart out ran all competition in the 800 sprint medley. In the 4000 distance medley relay Kelin Dunfee, John McCarthy, Micheal VanVoorhis-Horton, and David Wehrwein dominated the relay. Centrals next meet is May 13th.

(PIC) Central's Concert and Varsity band played to a full house last night. The concert opened with the Drum-Line performing under the direction of Steve Collins. The big highlights of the show were the songs Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual and Stars and Stripes Forever performed by Concert Band. Jazz Band closed the show and performed the 40's hit "I Get A Kick Out Off You" with the vocal accompaniment of Kristi Moua.

The fifth annual Central High School art exhibit, Intuit, will open May 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 in the Concordia University Art Department Gallery. The exhibit runs through June 12th, and gallery hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 15th, and all artwork must be matted using black, white, or gray mat board. With submissions, students should write a short statement 100 words or less about the theme of their work, and what message they want it to convey. Last night at here at Dunning field, the Central boys baseball team destroyed the Arlington Phoenix 32 to 2. Junior Bobby Lewis also hit a grand slam! Also tonight at 8pm at Dunning the Central boys varsity baseball team will play in the annual alumni game against Centrals alumni.

Yesterday the Central Minutemen Tennis team defeated the Humboldt Hawks 7-0. The team is now 8-3 in conference and takes on the Johnson Governors today at 3:15 at Central.

Today the Central Girls Golf team will compete in a Quad meet with Harding, Como Park and Humboldt at Highland National Golf Course at 2:45.

Yesterday the Central Girl's Softball team lost to the Como Park Cougars 7-1. Yadira Sevilla had the only RBI which scored Central's only run. Central's next game is today against the Harding Knights at Harding at 4.

The 5th annual Central High School Art Exhibit Named "Intuit" opens to the general public May 30th through June 12th at the Concordia University Art Department Gallery the exhibit will focus on who Central High Schools visual artist are and what they have to say.

Last night Central's Boys and Girls Track Team participated in the 6AAA True Team track meet hosted by Mounds View. The teams met with some tough competition against seven non-conference teams from Roseville, Spring Lake Park/ St. Anthony, Irondale, Cretin-Derham Hall, Minneapolis South and Southwest and the host team Mounds View who won the meet. Central fought hard and ran their fastest. Both teams came in fifth place overall, the boys scoring 570, the girls 474. The track team hosts a city conference relay meet tomorrow at 3:15 here at Central.

Today at 3:45 the Central Minutemen first place baseball team takes on the Arlington Phoenix at Dunning Stadium. The boys are 7-2 in conference and are hoping to add another win to the record books.

Many Central students attended the hispanic celebration Cinco De Mayo held this past weekend on St. Paul's West side. The celebration ran for two days consisting of a car show on Friday, and a Grand Parade Saturday.

The Central Minutemaid softball team had a very busy weekend playing a conference game on Friday and three games on Saturday in the Tartan Tournament. The girls lost to Johnson 12-1 in 5 innings on Friday and continued to struggle on Saturday losing to St Francis 16-0 and then to New Prague 16-4. However the girls finished the weekend strong with a 13-1 victory over Minneapolis South. The Girls take on Highland Park today at 4 at Highland Park.

This weekend is the celebration of Cinco de Mayo on St. Paul's West Side. Today is a car show, tomorrow is the parade, and the festival which celebrates Hispanic culture will continue until Sunday.

The multicultural festival takes place today at one o clock in the cafeteria, lobby, and auditorium. The festival will feature traditional dress, dancing music, and most importantly food from over 40 nations and ethnicities! Tickets for the food items students have been cooking since yesterday sell for 50 cents, and food items sell for one to three of these tickets.

In Golf news, yesterday the Boy's team defeated the Harding Knights 10-2, the Humbolt Hawks 10-2 and tied the Como Cougars 12-12 in a quad match at Keller Golf course. The Girl's Golf team played at Cedar Home defeating Johnson 8-4. The Boy's next match is at Keller next Tuesday at 2:15 and the Girl's play on Tusday at Highland Park National at 2:15.
