Martin Luther King Recreation Center is holding a No School Day Program next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Activities include a 4 on 4 basketball tournament, movies, board games, ping pong, and snacks. To register, pick up a form at the MLK, or call at 651-290-8695. Its free!

(PIC)Royaly and Loyalty presents a hip hop benefit concert called "Hope" to help the homeless. The event will be held in the auditoreum tonight. Performers include some of Central's own students and alumni such as Young Capo, Mani Strings, The Mafia, Sky Hye, Ms.Green and many more entertainers. The cost is five dollars for students with a a school I.D. and seven dollars for adults. All proceeds will go to homeless children at the Dorothy Day Center to buy holiday presents.

The Central High Math Team, led by seniors Elwood McCreary and Ellen Rice and freshman Martin Camacho, all with perfect scores of 14, moved into sole possession first place in the state at this past Monday's Math Meet. Danie Monahan and Jennifer Wei aided the team effort, each with a scores of 12. The team meet total of 105 points gave the Minutemen a current season total of 303. The team could receive an invitation to the state tournament in March to defend their title as State High School Math League Champions.

Today in Advisory 9th grade students who have completed the "About Me" and "9th Grade Scheule" portion of their 6 year plan will get coupons for a free ice cream treat.

The Winning wrestlers were Ian Hedstrom, Barry Morgan, Carlos Rosario, Dave Krenik, Mickell Brown, and Sam Hansen. Also wrestling practice has been cancelled

Last night the Girls Baskeball team blew out Christ Household of Faith with a final score of 80-34. Cyonna West led 6 central players in double figures with 12 points. The Girls are still first in comference with a record of 7-1.

The proceeds will be donated to the Solar Electric Light Fund, an organization that provides developing countries with solar power. Bring devices to the collection box in the office.

[VID ]Yesterday was the holiday Eid Al Adha. Eid is the Mulims New Year. According to the Muslims calender its year 1429. This holiday was celebrated by Muslims all over the world. In Minnesota Familes go pray together early in the morning. After prayer families gather together to enjoy and eat traditonal sweets. Children usually get money as gifts. Later in the day families stay in or go out to eat together and many head to The Mall for more fun.

Today is the last day for students to turn in yearbook family pictures, back in the day pictures, and is also the last day for seniors to turn in their baby pictures to be in the 2007-2008 yearbook.

Yesterday the Boy's Basketball team defeated Roseville 83 to 72 at the Roseville Area High School. Senior Larry Brown had a stellar offensive game scoring 33 points. The boys' next game is the Milwaukee Wisconsin Showcase over the Winter Break.

Tommorrow Central's Muslims celebrate the Holiday of "Eid Al-Adha" known as the Festival of Sacrifice. The festival begins on the 10th day of the last month of the Islamic calander and lasts for three days. It is a time for prayer, family, and food.

On Saturday, the Central Mock Trial team attended its first scrimmage at Lakeville High School. They defeated Benilde St. Margarets 81-59 and Eden Prairie 93-83. Congradulations to Charlie Armitz and Sarah Ludwig for there outstanding performances.

This weekend, the debate team of Ben Quam and Ilias Karim won the first two rounds of the tournament. In the finals they lost a tough match to Highland Park.

Last night the central men's, women's and concert choir along with the central singers performed thier annual winter concert, Nature's Force.

Tomorrow, the Central Mock Trial team will be attending its first scrimmage at Lakeville South High School. The scrimmage runs from 8:00am-3:00pm, and there will be two practice rounds. In preparation for this scrimmage, the Mock Trial team meets today in Room 406 from 2:15-4:00.

The team of Danie Monahan, Martin Camacho, Christine Lee, and Jon Schellenberg went a perfect 4-0 while the team of Jennifer Wei and Wendy Lang went 2-2. The next tournament is on January 5th.

(VID)Tonight, the Central Choirs under the direction of Martha Coventry Graber presents their annual Winter Choir Concert "Nature's Force" in the auditorium. First, the Central Women's choir willl perform songs including 'Build Me Up Buttercup'. Then, the Central Men perform pieces such as "That is Life", followed by the Central Singers with "Avay, Virgo Sanct-ees-ima." The Concert Choir finishes up with 5 songs including "Super fllumina Babilonis," and "Big Sky." The music starts at 7:00.

Yesterday here at Central, the Girls Basketball team defeated Minnetonka 62 to 43 improving their record to 6-1. Senior Georgie Jones had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Central. The Minutemaids goes up against Christ's Household of Faith next Thursday.

Auditions for "One Act" plays will be held Tuesday, Dec 11 and Thursday Dec 13. Students should sign up outside the office. Scripts will be furnished. This will be Central's first entry into the State One Act play competition in many years.

For the second year in a row, the varsity debate team of Ilias Karim and Ben Quam qualify for the National Debate Tournament, after placing second in state. This year's national tournament will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in June 2008.

Central's Concert Choir will be holding its annual Winter Concert this Thursday in the auditorium at 7 PM.

(PICT) Today is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. On this date in 1941 the US armed forces on the Island of Hawaii at Pearl Harbor were attacked by the naval-airforces of Japan with a loss of over 3,000 US service personel. This attacked brought the United States into World War Two

(PICTS)Last night the Central bands, under the direction of Mr. Matt Oyen, presented their annual Winter Concert. The concert opened with the Jazz Band playing "Moist Squeegy Poinsettial" composed by Central senior Remy Taghavi. The varsity band finished its set with John Phillip Sousa's "The Washington Post March" after treating the audience to music from the video game "Halo". A special treat was the Drum Line, directed by Steve Coillins, playing "Carol of the Bells". The evening ended with Central's renown Concert Band playing 5 major pieces including the popular and upbeat winter tune "Sleigh Ride". It was a great night for music. Next Week the Central Choirs will present their winter Concert - Thursday at 7 P.M. Stay tuned after the show for more footage on last nights event.

(PICS & VID) Yesterday 304 seniors enjoyed a special senior moment at Saints North Rollerrink in North St. Paul. Seniors enjoyed 2 & 1/2 hours of rollerskating, in-line skating, eating, and hanging-out as a senior class. The event ended with a hula-hoop contest.

76 seniors have not taken a yearbook picture at Photographers Guild to be in this year's Yearbook. All seniors should check the list on the senior wall near room 420 to make sure that their picture is not one of the missing pictures. Students who had pictures taken at other studios are not pictured. To be in the yearbook contact Mr. Schlukebier today.

The Central Wrestling team lost close matches to Roseville and Humboldt last night at Humboldt. Winning wrestlers for Central included Robera Ganamo, Yeng Xiong, Hinok Yacob, Lulu Ige, Barry Morgan, Mickell Brown, and Sam Hansen at Heavyweight. The wrestlers travel to the Park Tournament tomorrow.

(VID) Last night the Central Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Band presented their annual Winter Concert. Favorites included Offenbach's overture to "Orpheus in the Underworld," a Concerto for Four violins by Vivaldi, highlights from "Wicked" and four movements from the "Peer Gynt Suite". It was a fantstic night of music.

(VID)Tonight in the Central audiotrium the Central bands present their annual Winter Concert under the direction of Mr. Matt Oyen. The Jazz band will lead off at 7:00 P.M. with the World Premiere of a piece called "Moist Squeegy Poinsettia" composed by Central Senior Remy Taghavi. The Varsity band will then play a series of pieces ending with the famous "The Washington Post March" by John Phillips Sousa. The Drum Line will then perform "Carol of the Drums". The evening will end with a wide variety of music by the Concert Band including "Fantaisa" by Johann Sebastian Bach. In keeping with a long-standing Central tradition the Concert Band will finish the concert with the all-time favorite "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson. Next week the Central choirs will take center stage with their Annual Winter Concert on Thursday

Yesterday after school Mesibah, the Jewish cluture club, held its secong annualk dreidel tournament. Tournement champs were : 1st place Michall Crellin & 2nd place Susie Scanlan.

In basketball action last night, the state reigning girls champions the Central Minutemen defeated Cretin-Derham Hall 73-49. Top scorers for Central were Taylor with 19, Buford with 21, Jones with 11 and Howard put in 12.

The Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah begins today at sundown. Known as the Festival of Lights, the holiday period lasts eight days and commemorates the cleansing of the temple by Judah Mackabee and the miraculous burning of the Temple menorah for eight days. Hanuhhak is often celebrated by the lighting of the Hannukan menorah, playing dreidle, eating latkes, and giving children Hanukah geld.

(PICTS)This weekend Central's Drama Board presented "Pirates of Penzance", a light comic opera directed by Sarah Waddle choreograph by Nora Brand with a Pit band, conducted by Remy Taghavi . Staring Christopher Geno, Cece Klueh, Madelyn Heyman, Andre Borka, Nathan Arnosti, Kristi Moua, Rosie Graber, Matthew Dickenson and Geoffrey Schellenberg the performance was a huge success with over 1500 people attenting Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Saturday's evening performance was cancel due to the snow strom The Gilbert and Sullivan comedy of love and adventure is filled with British wit and silliness which was executed with enthusiasm and humor by the cast of 37 singers and dancers supported by an outstanding pit band of 14 Central musicians.

There will be a drama board meeting right after the announcements on Tuesday in room 420 for a yearbook picture. Members will also be meeting this Thursday after school in Ms. Hutchinson's room to discuss the spring play.
