On Monday the girls basketball team takes on the White Bear Lake Bears at Concordia College, tip off starts at 7.

Last night the boys basketball team smashed the Como Cougars for the second time this season by 83 to 62. Jordan Larson was the star of the game scoring 23 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The boys next challenge is against the Humboldt Hawks is on Wednesday.

Badminton practice begins Monday outside of the gym. Please come in sport attire. To practice you must turn in all forms and money. Also the captains practice is cancelled for today and tommorrow.

Duke and Duchess are Will Quam and Sarah Jacobs. Prince and Princess are Jordan Larson and Angela Cruz. King and Queen are Steve Looney and Rosie Graber. Congratulations

Today is the last day to purchase Sno Daze tickets. The Sno Daze dance is tommrrow night at 7:30. As part of Sno Daze week, today is "mask decorating" During all three lunches. Tomorrow will be Mardi Gras Day. Be sure to wear purple, green and gold.

Tonight, Central's Mock Trial team "Yo Mama's Guilty" competes against Rosemount in the final round of the regional competition. The team's plaintiff counsel of Charlie Armitz, Matt Carlyon and Sulamita Yang will attempt to lead Central to the state competition for the second year in a row. The trial starts at 5:30pm at the Hennepin County Courthouse in downtown Minneapolis.

(PIC) In sports action last night at the state wrestling tournament held at the Xcel Energy Center, Dante Jones was pinned last night at his bid for wrestling state title. He remains in the state competition.

Tomorow five memebers of the Minutemen Boys Swimming and Diving team will compete in the state tournament at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Sophomore Amir Ener comeptes in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Junior Daues Jorento swims the 200 Individual Medley, and Senior Capitain Steven Looney in the 100 Backstroke.

(PIC) On Friday night in the Black Box, Central High School's Beta Gamma Girl Scouts presented "Furthering the African American Community." The program began with an introduction by emcees Lennisha Walker and Ina Carter, followed by a spirited singing of the Black National Anthem by Sharice McCain. Next, the audience was treated to spoken word pieces by two different artists: Jamal Rogers and Cassie McCain. Tyrone Terril then took the stage with a speech about black history. Kiarra McCain closed the program with a heartfelt praise dance. The event was sponsored by the Beta Gamma Girl Scouts.

THis is the second time the two teams have faced off, Central was hoping for a better outcome. They battled hard for a victory but once again lost to the 25-1 Tigers. Centrals leading scorers were Theiarra Taylor with 20 points, Megan Howard with 19, and Kiara Buford with 18 points. The final score was 75 to 52.

Last night Central's Minutemaid girls' basketball team demolished the Southwest Lakers 80 to 35. Kiara Buford, Megan Howard, and Georgie Jones all lead the team with 15 points a piece.

Central's boys' basketball team also defeated their opponents, the Hill Murray Pioneers 98 to 86. The boys' next game against Arlington tips off Tuesday February 26 at 7 PM.

Tomorrow at Centrtal the Central Girls' Minutemen Basketball team goes up against the Tigers of Minneapolis South in the annual Twin Cities game. Central lost to South earlier this year and the Minutemen are out to win. The C squad game starts at 10:30. The JV game begins at 12:00 and the Varsity tips off against the Tigers at 1:30 P.M. . Students should bring their ID card to get into the game.

Last night Central's Boys basketball team crushed the Highland Scotts 82 to 63. Senior Larry Brown led the minutemen with 21 points. Before the game Larry was honored for scoring his 1000th point as a minutemen. The boys' next game is tomorrow at Hill Murray. Tip-off is at 7:30 PM.

The first place Minutemaids basketball team also demolished the third place Highland Scotts 90 to 48. Kiarra Buford lead the girls with 17 points, followed by Theiairra Taylor with 15. The girl's next game is tomorrow night at Minneapolis Southwest at 7 PM.

Some of the main events will be the Youth Hand Drum Contest and that will take place on Saturday at 8pm,and a Tiny Tots dance exhibition on Sunday at 1:30. The Powwow is on Saturday from 1 to 9 and Sunday from 1to 5.

Starting May 5, the Library will be closed for 4 months for the new renovation. Next year, the library will have two large computer labs and a new arrangement. To help clear some space, the staff is giving away many of the old magazines. The free magazines are stacked in piles in front of the elevator in the Library.

Last night in a valentines day heartbreaker, the Minutemen boys basketball team lost to Johnson by a buzzer beater 74 to 73. Senior Larry Brown led the Minutemen with 26 points followed by Laderion Horton and Jordan Larson with 10 points each. Johnson and Central are now tied for first in conference with records of 7 and 1. The boys next game is Tuesday against the Highland Park Scotts.

Last night the girls walked all over johnson 95 to 43. Meghan Howard led the Minutemaids with 20 points and 11 rebounds, and teammate Georgie Jones had 15 rebounds to put her over the 1,000 rebound mark in her highschool career. The Girls next game is against the Highland Park Scotts.

Last night the Boys wrestling team defeated Cretin Derham Hall, but lost to the top ranked Tartan Titans. Wrestlers winning both matches were Dante Jones, Barry Morgan, and Mickell Brown. State tournament qualifying rounds begin next week at North Saint Paul High School.

On Saturday in the Humboldt pool the Central Boys swimming and diving team dominated the Conference Meet. The Minutemen placed first in every event. Central scored 391 points and the nearest team was Highland Park with 300. Senior Captain Stephen Looney broke the Centrals team record in the 100 Yard Backstroke. This was a 13 year old record. The boys will Participate in the Twin Cities meet on Tuesday against Minneapolis Southwest.

The Boys Basketball team had a lot of action this weekend. On Friday the Minutemen Crushed the Humboldt Hawks 81 to 49. On Saturday they played the number 6 ranked Wayzata Trojans. The Minutemen lost a heartbreaker. Wayzata hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer to defeat the Minutemen 72 to 71.

Last night, the Central Boys Basketball team smashed Como Park 92 to 48. Dylan Hale had 5 three-pointers and scored 25 points for the Minutemen, and Larry Brown had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Their next game is Friday at 7 PM against the Humboldt Hawks at Humboldt.

For the fifth year in a row the boys swimming and diving team crushed the St. Paul City Conference teams by having a perfect 5 and 0 record. Last night the Minutemen won the tri meet with 139 points. Highland scored 102 points and Como had 58 points. The Central Aquamen next meet is the conference championship at Humboldt Pool on Saturday at 1:30.
