(intro) Yesterday, Central students submitted their votes on the best global warming solutions during an event affiliated with Focus the Nation. With more on the story, here is Nora Hencir.

Cast of Pirates of Penzance, There are still DVD's left. Please come and purchase them from Ms. Hutchinson in room 509 before or after school. They are $10 a piece

Juniors and Seniors who have NOT passed their Minnesota Basic Standards test for Mathematics and Reading, students who have not passed will have another opportunity to take these tests next week. The Math test will be offered on Tuesday, and the reading test will be offered on Wednesday. Students taking the tests should report directly to the cafeteria at 7:30 am both days.

Book club meets Wednesday, February 6th right after school in the libray. See Mrs. Erickson to check out the book of the week.

Starting Monday February 4th, the Central Morning News will be holding a contest for Black History Month. Students will have the opportunity to guess who said a famous quote.There will be prizes for the drawing winner.Cmep will be sponsoring a African American poetry contest and a African American trivia contest in advisories on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays.

(pic) Due to safety concerns from the Westland Hallmark Meat Company, Centrals ground beef was removed from our school choice menu. Replacing Hamburgers and Cheeseburgers today is Fish shandwich or a corn dog.

Chinese Club has posted names of students that will be auctioning themselves next Thursday. Students still interested should get a form from room 503. Forms are due by Monday.

Congratulations to senior Laurence Ducker who placed third in the US Jr. National Championship for speed skating. He will be completing in the Jr. World Championship next week in Japan.

Last night the Minutemen Wrestling team defeated the Johnson Governors 39 to 33. The winning wrestlers were: Ian Hedstrom, John Weber, Hinok Yacob, Olumide Ige, Dante Jones, Barry Morgan, and Mickell Brown. The boys were fourth overall in conference and will compete in the Twin Cities meet in March.

Attention all softball players. This Saturday there will be a softball clinic in the gym. The clinic will start at 12 and end at 1:30.

The Junior Varsity Gymnastics team will compete in the JV Conference meet.

(IS)Tonight the Girls and boys basketball teams will take on the Arlington Phoenix. The boys will tip off at 7:00 at Central.The Girls will be at Arlington at 7:00 Tonight at 5:00 at Como Park,.

Tomorrow the Minutemen basketball team will play Minneapolis Washburn at 1:00 at Washburn. Tomorrow the Girls Basketball team will take on the Minneapolis South Tigers at 2:30 at Minneapolis South. Students remember to bring your Central student ID or a student planner. The doors will lock before halftime.
