On May 17th EMID (East Metro Integregation District) is hosting a college access fair from 10 am to 1 pm at Harambee Elementary School. This event is for students in grades 5 through 11 and will go over issues such as finacial aid, preparing for college, and information about colleges and universities in Minnesota. Further information is in the office.

(PICS) This weekend, Central's drama board presents Harold Pinter's play "A Night Out." The play is the dramatic story of Albert Stokes, a lonely man who lives with his mother. It shows the way his life is changed by a single "night out." Performances are Friday at 7 PM, Saturday at 2 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM. Admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults.

The Central Girls Softball team DESTROYED the Harding Knights 16 to 2. The Girls are currently third in the Conference with a 5 and 2 record. The girls next game is today agaisnt the Arlington Pheonix at the Dunning softball fields at 4:00.

Yesterday at Dunning the Boys Baseball team was upset by the Highland Park Scots. However due to Harding upseting the Como Park Cougars the Minutemen are still leading the Conference with a record of 5 and 1. The boys next game is against the Arlington Pheonix at 3:45 at Arkwright field.

Prom, "A Red Carpet Affair," will be Saturday evening at the Landmark Center. Tickets are on sale during all three lunches today through Thursday for $35 each and must be paid for in cash. In other prom-related news, students who participated in Operation Glass Slipper can pick up their dresses in Mrs. Olson's room 571 any time after fourth hour today. NO-ONE will be able to pick up a dress without a claim ticket! Additionally, the Prom committee meets today after school.

The Central baseball team battled the cold as well the Johnson Governers yesterday. Senior Orin Larson pitched a 3-hit shutout and the team won 4-0. The Minutemen are now 5-0 in conference play, and take on Highland Park today at 3:45 at Dunning Statium.

The girls played better but only managed 1 victory losing 1 to 6. Doubles team Malinda Xiong and Mai See Xiong posted the victory. The team is now 4 and 4 in the conference heading into their last 3 regular season games. They play the Humboldt Hawks tomorrow at 3:15.

All 3 doubles teams won bringing the team total to 5 victories and 2 losses. The girls are now 4 and 3 in the conference. They travel to Como Park today for a 3:15 match. C-squad team members should look at the list posted out side the locker room to see if they are going.

This afternoon, 25 Central students will bus to the Veterans Service Building on the grounds of the Capitol. The sudents will be able to interact live, via

satilite feed, to soldiers in Iraq. The troops are stationed at Camp Anoconda near Bosra, and are a part of the Second Batalian 147th Avaiation

Blackhawk unit.

Last night 70 central students were inducted into the National Honor society. The night started with opening statements by central's NHS president

Danny Chahla, followed by the explantion of the four pillars of NHS presented by the NHS officers. (TURN VID ON!!!) Sue Hague, former Ramsey County

commisioner, and now president of Habitat for hummanity was a featuring guest for th evening. The highlight of the evening was the candel lighting

ceremony and the pledge the oath of the Honor Society. The evening ended with all new inducties signing the National Honor Society book.

Yesterday 114 Central students participated in the 17th annual Ordway Honors Concert. Members from centrals Band, Orchestra, and Choir all participated

the concert. 16 Central students were selceted to sing in the choir, which was conducted by Dr. Matthew Mehaffey.53 Central students were picked to play in

the Orchestra, under the Baton of Claudette Laureano, and and 48 Central students were chosen to play in the band, conducted by Amy K. Roisum Foley.

Over 1500 music lovers attended Last nights concert at the Ordway! Congratulations to all participants.

After a 10 inning battle at Como yesterday, the boys baseball team edged out a 3-2 victory. Dan Merkl scored all three of the teams runs, and starting pitcher

Orin Larson tossed a 6 scoreless innings. Ben Nelson and Anton Schneider made game saving defensive plays in the outfield. The game was a tense back

and forth thriller, and Central's players stayed sharp through extra innings. The team plays at Humbuldt today at 3:45

(PICS) April 22nd is known as Earth Day. Earth Day was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson. Earth Day was first organized in 1970 to promote ecology and

respect for life on the planet, as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water and soil pollution. In honor of Earth Day many Central

students rode their bikes to school.

Megan is an all conference captain for the volleyball team, a standout basketball player, and a letter winner in both Softball and Track and field. Last Monday, Centrals "Seeds of Change" received a AARP Legacy reward of $10,000. Seeds of Change was chosen out of 52 schools in the country to win the award. On May 16th Seeds of Change will be an opening act for CTT at Concordia College, performing a play about the gap of academic achievement for black males.

The Central Minutemen Baseball team opened their conference season by crushing the Arlington Pheonix 12 to 1. The Minutemen scored 9 runs in the first inning, and scored once in the 3rd and 2 more times in the 4th inning. Wyatt Danz was the winning pitcher and only allowed one run. Some highlights were Dan Merkl going 2 for 3 with 3 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. The boys next game is friday at 4:00 against the defending conference champions the Como Park Cougars.

(IS) Tomorrow is the first day of MCA II testing. 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be testing in thier advisory beggining at 7:30.
Students, remember to get good sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring a number 2 pencil. 9th graders will be taking the GRAD writing test, 10th graders will take the MCA reading test, and 11th graders will be taking the MCA math test. Juniors remember to bring your calculators!
Seniors will enjoy a late start and are expected to arrive at 10. After the tests, students will go to 2nd period and then regular scheduele for periods 4, 5, and 6. The tests will continue on Wednesday, periods 1 and 2 will be eliminated.

This week is National Library week. To celebrate the library is sponsering a contest to guess the name of a selected book given 5 clues. The winner for each day will receive a $10 dollar gift certificate to Barnes and Noble. Contest submissions are to be placed in the bucket in the Library. Students are to write down their name, advisory, book tittle and the author. Here are the clues for today: Christopher, the main character, has autism and the sory is told in the first person. Chistopher tries to solve the murder of a dog found in the front yard. The book is hilarious in some parts and and sad in others. The book title is an exact remark made by Sherlock Holmes. The author's has 15 other books, some in spanish. Winners will be announced at the end of the day.

Yesterday, 273 Central Seniors went cosmic bowling at Flahrety's in Arden Hills. The top bowlers, who recieved a Chipotle gift card for thier victories, were Nancy Her with a score 212 and Phillip Terrill 182. Other top scorers for the Girls were Raven Riley 175, Kallin Kaeder 146, Jasmin Graves 146, and Vicki Vangh 145. The top boys were Steve Looney 179, Curtis Bakken 177, Tou Zong Pha 176, and Sanchez Brown 166. It was a fun time had by all, the next Senior event schedueled is the Toga themed Boat Dance. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assesment test better known as the MCA's start next Tuesday.
