The Central High Foundation Scholarship applications are now available in the CRC

On the Tuesday following Spring Break, 10th graders will go to an assembly right after the morning news. On Wednesday, 11th graders will go to the assembly. At the assembly presented by Lucy Nelson called "Career Pathways" students will be given the opportunity to sign up to take a college class at St. Paul College. Students can pick from the following four programs to earn college credits: Medical, construction, engineering, and computer programing. Grades not participating will have extended advisory on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Operation Glass Slipper was founded in 2007 by a local mother and daughter to distribute prom dresses and accesories to area girls who otherwise would'nt be able to afford the expensives of prom. The event takes place Saturday April 5th Sunday, April 6th at the Mall of America. Eligible ladies can pick up dresses starting Sunday, April 6th at 10am. Registration and eligibility forms can be picked up at your concelors office.

Yesterday Central's Track team participated in a pre-season track meet held at Concordia College. Central coming out on top in most events predicts a great season for this year.

The Badminton team won their first conference meet of the season yesterday as they faced off at Arlington.The team beat Arlington 4-3, thanks to Ananya Thao, who was down 20-14,when she stepped up and and scored 8 in a row to decide the game.The match was Anaya's very first varsity singles match. The next Badminton meet is against Como Park the Tuesday after Spring break.

Yesterdy in the Black Box, Irvin Mayfield, a Cultural Ambassador to the City of New Orleans, came to Central High School to promote Jazz and New Orleans Library. He spoke to selected Central classes and wortked with the Central's Jazz Band. Mayfield discussed the three elements of Jazz - Blues, Swing, and Improvisation. Irvin Mayfield is also a Jazz trumpter and has been playing for 21 years. His music, which draws from all aspects of New Orleans life and culture, reimagines unique New Orleans styles and blends them into an authentic 21st century New Orlaens sound. To honor his late father, a victim of drowning during Hurricane Katrina, Mayfield has dedicated hmself to promoting Jazz.

National Honor Society hosts a Spring Blowout Bash concert tonight starting at 7 in the black box. The cost is 3 dollars to get in. The concert features Zombie the Dragon Slayer, Manzana Casa, Post Mercury, and The Velvetines. Proceeds go to Habitat For Humanities.

The Central Minutemen Math Team captured 2nd place in the Minnesota State Math Tournament behind Wayzata High School on Monday. The team finished the tournament with 107 points out of a possible total 136. Martin Camacho led 7 of 8 members of the Minutemen in the invitational with 21 points and placed second in the Math Bowl competition of the top 10 mathletes in the state. Martin placed third overall for the tournament. Congratulations to the Math Team.

(vid) Last Saturday, Centrals Boys Basketball Team Defeated Minneapolis Patrick Henry 93 to 81 and earned bragging rights as the best boys basketball team

in the St. Paul and Minneapolis City Conferences. The last time the boys basketball team competed in the Twin cities game was back in 2005 where they lost

to Minneapolis North. The boys had not won the the TC game since 1989 when they beat Minneapolis South 87 to 80 in overtime. Tomorrow the boys travel to

Tartan to play the 4th seeded Titans in the first round of Sectional play.

The Girl's Basketball team will be at the Target Center, Wednesday at 2p.m. to compete in the first round of the state tournament, against the St.Cloud Tech.

St. Cloud Tech is seeded 6th in state and Central is 3rd.

(DV-VID) Last night Central's boys' basketball team trampled the Humboldt Hawks 94 to 64 in their last conference game of the season. The team was lead by star player Dylan Hale with 27 points. Senior Larry brown added 17 points and Senior Curtis Bakken contributed with 10 .During half time Central Senior basketball players were recognized for their work on the team. The victory assured the boys a tie with Johnson for first place in conference. The boys play in the Twin Cities game this Saturday at 1:30 at Arlington.

Tonight the girls basketball team takes on the Woodbury Royals at Concordia College. This is the final 4AA section game, if the girls win the will be going to state! Tip off starts at 7:30 come support CENTRAL!!!!!

(DV-Vid) Last night the Girls basketball team took on the White Bear Lake Bears in the 4, 4A sectional semi-final game. The girls entered the game as last years state champion so their confidence was high. Right from tip off, they Minutemaids seem to have the game under control. Kiarra Buford led all scorers with 20 points. Thearria Taylor also contributed with 17 points. Senior Megan Howard scored 16 including scoring her 1000th point in her high school basketball carreer. As the game wore on, the bears proved to be a challenge and pushed the defending champs to their limits. Central ended up winning the close game 80 to 74. The girls take on Woodbury on Thursday night in the final. The winner will go to the state tournament.

(PICS) Friday was the annual Sno Daze dance. Over 550 students attending at the dance at the Crowne Plaza hotel. Central alum Vance McCain was the D.J. for the Mardi Gras themed event. The dance marked the end of Sno-Daze week.

Yesterday was the 75th anniversary of the movie "King Kong" which premiered in New York city. The films special effects-including stop action photography, miniaturization and rear projection- turn an 18 inch rabbit fur covered model into a "menace extraordinary" and set a new standard for animation.

Last Friday was the last day for the famous African American quote contest.The quote was by Louis Armstrong and winners are Claire Dunivan in Mr Modellis room, and Madeline Speer in Mr.Modellis room.
