At 4:30 the Girls soccer team will take on the Arlington Phoenix in what looks to be an easy match against a team that is 0-9. The girls are currently atop the conference standings with a record of 8-0-1. The girls have only three games left in the conference season and look to finish strong.

Yesterday the girls soccer team took on the 0-10 Arlington Phoenix. It was a easy match for the victorious Minute-maids as they won 7-0. The girls sit a top the conference with a 9-0-1 record and are in good place to win the conference with only two games left. Tomorrow, they take on the Humbolt Hawks, 3:15pm at Humbolt.

On Thursday the homecoming game wont just be any old homecoming game. When the Central Minutemen take on the Johnson Governors the tie on top of the conference standings will be broken and only one team will be leading conference. Both teams are 4-0 going into this game and the winner has a very good chance of winning conference. It looks to be a close and exciting game so be there during the homecoming game to show some school spirit and don't forget to be at the 6:30 pep fest before the game!

The Central boys soccer team took down the Arlington Phoenix yesterday in a very easy win here at Griffin. The boys won 5-0 and are now 10-0 in conference. Also, the boys are now ranked 8th in state because of their outstanding performance this year. The minutemen look hold their spot at the top of the conference tomorrow against the Humbolt Hawks, at Humbolt, at 5pm.

(VID) Last night the Central Minutemen football team came out victorious against the Como Park Cougars, 37-21. Senior running back DJ Johnson ran for 2 touchdowns to lead the team to a victory. Their record is now 4-0 and next Thursday they play the undefeated Johnson Governors for the Conference championship. This is Central Homecoming game. Come cheer on the Minutemen next Thursday at 7pm.

The last day to drop a class will be Monday, September 29th. After this date you will receive an "N". You must also have a note from a parent or guardian and then you will then be put in a "Study Hall".

(VID)The girls soccer team played what could be their most important game of the year on Wednesday against the 2nd place Highland Park Scots. The Minute-maids fought hard and senior Emily Johnson scored a goal to put the girls up 1-0.Highland got a late goal and tied the game. The game went to overtime but a winner could not be decided. With the tie the girls now stand at 8-0-1 in conference and still have a narrow lead over the Scots in the standings. They take on the 0-8 Arlington Phoenix on Monday, here at Central.

Last night due to rain the Girls Tennis match was postponed, they will play the make-up game today at 315 against the Johnson Governors at the Bucky Olson Tennis Courts here at Central. The Girls have secured at least a tie for conference and possibly a win of conference. Good Luck girls

(PICS) The Central Volleyball team beat the Harding Knights in three matches yesterday. Last night was also parent's night, where the players thanked thier parents with letters. Highlights of the game were twelve ace serves in a row made by Yadira Sevilla, Ellen Semf got fourteen kills, Sarah walker made eight kills, and Megan Tate made six. The girls are currently first in conference play with a record of 7-0. The girls have not lost a conference match in play since September of 2003.The girl's next game is next Tuesday at Como. the team is playing Como for the first time.

The Girls Swimming and Diving Team beat St. Paul Academy last night 100 to 66. This was there second meet and victory they are now 2-0 in conference

(VID) Last night the Central Minutemen boys soccer team defeated their arch rival the Highland Scots. The Boys had an impressive 5-1 win including two goals from Sophmore Jake Wythers.After the 1st half it was still a close match but in the second half the boys pulled away. Hanok Yacob had a very impressive goal with a header to increase the boys lead to 3-1.Freshman Ian Shank got in on the action and had a late goal to secure the boys win. The Boys are still undefeated in conference with a 9-0 record and have only three games left in the conference season. The boys next game is on Monday against Arlington.

Today is the first day of Fall, the autumnal equinox.

Wednesday is an Early Release Day. Class will end at 12:00 and periods will be shortened. It won't be an early release for teachers however who will be attending staff development meetings.

On Friday night the Central Minuteman crushed their arch rival the Highland Scots 32-6, here at Griffin in the annual battle of the Musket. With this win, not only do the Minutemen move to 1st in conference, but they also take home the Musket for a fourth straight year. It was a big night for the Minutemen defense with two touchdowns of their own. Including a 34 yard interception by senior Dominic Jones, that he returned for a touchdown and two interceptions by Sam Butler one of which was also returned for a touchdown. "[The] team came out and they were very inspired and focused" said Coach Howell referring to how the team played on Friday night.

Samuel Butler had a big game on Friday and was honored by being in the Star Tribune as a Friday Top performer. Samuel who is a senior had two interceptions including one for a touchdown. Good job Samuel!

In a poll conducted this week, 203 central students were asked this question: If the Presidential Election were held today and if you could vote, who would you vote for?
Obama received 88.5% with a total of 177 votes, McCain received 10.5% with a total of 21 votes and Other Candidates received 1% with 5 votes.

Tonight our Central Minutemen football team will be taking on the Highland Park Scots here at Griffin, at 7pm, in the battle of The Musket. Since 1964 Central and Highland have faced-off in a friendly competition for the this Musket. The Minuteman have won The Musket 25 times and have taken it home the past three years in a row. Last year the Minuteman took home the Musket with a score of 18-8. Come cheer on the Minuteman tonight and watch them claim The Musket for yet another year.

The first meeting of Book Club will be Wednesday, September 17 at 2:15 in the Library Media Center. The book selection this month is "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. It is a true story, a memoir of her life in a very dysfunctional family. A copy of the book will be provided as well as treats. The Girls Swim and Dive Team had a big win against Highland Park on Friday night. This was the first conference meet of the season and it looks like it is going to be another great year for the team. On saturday, the team hosted the 13th Annual "Autumn Splash" at St. Kate's on Saturday. Over 300 swimmers participating in the annual event.

The Central boys soccer team continued their domination of the Saint Paul city conference on Friday with a 4-1 win over the Arlington Phoenix at Arlington, with this win they improve their record to 4 and 0 in conference and sit in a comfortable first place lead. Also, they took on Maple Grove in a non-conference game on Saturday at Maple grove. The minutemen fought hard but ended up with a 0-0 tie. Tonight they take on the Humbolt Hawks tonight at Griffen stadium at 5 o' clock.
