Today is the first day of Fall, the autumnal equinox.

Wednesday is an Early Release Day. Class will end at 12:00 and periods will be shortened. It won't be an early release for teachers however who will be attending staff development meetings.
------
On Friday night the Central Minuteman crushed their arch rival the Highland Scots 32-6, here at Griffin in the annual battle of the Musket. With this win, not only do the Minutemen move to 1st in conference, but they also take home the Musket for a fourth straight year. It was a big night for the Minutemen defense with two touchdowns of their own. Including a 34 yard interception by senior Dominic Jones, that he returned for a touchdown and two interceptions by Sam Butler one of which was also returned for a touchdown. "[The] team came out and they were very inspired and focused" said Coach Howell referring to how the team played on Friday night.

Samuel Butler had a big game on Friday and was honored by being in the Star Tribune as a Friday Top performer. Samuel who is a senior had two interceptions including one for a touchdown. Good job Samuel!

Yearbook pictures begin Thursday and Friday. Students will get their pictures taken with their social studies classes. Yearbook pictures and an ID picture are free. Seniors also need to have their ID pictures taken. Picture packets are available in advisories, the office, or room 420.

If you are in Seeds of Change, tutoring and mentoring is available everyday in the black box. Stop by the black box after school to sign up for a tutor.

Synergy Performing Arts Troupe is the group for you if you like to act, sing, dance, do spoken word, play a musical instrument or just want to make positive changes in our world? There's an informational meeting today at 2:15pm in the Black Box. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Cornelius Rish in the Black Box.

Here is this week's Math Trivia Question: Simplify the expression 2(3x-4)-8x+3. Turn in your answer with your name and Homeroom to Mrs. Olson in Room 571. Don't forget to have a complete Sentence answer. Winner will be announced Friday. The question can also be seen on the TV bulletin board.

The applications for Senior Class Council and Officers are due today. Turn applications in to Mr. Schlukebier in room 420 and get your picture taken as well. Today is the last day, so get those applications in!

The next Driver Education class will start tomorrow at 2:30 in room 401. All registered students should bring a writing utensil with them to class.

Fresh Force has their first meeting this Tuesday, September 23rd in room 465. To students who attended the informational meeting last Tuesday remember to bring the three forms that you received. If you did not attend the informational meeting, feel free to come and learn about Fresh Force. If you have any further questions, ask one of the board members: Chee Lor, Mota Vang, Denny Yang, or Shahir Ampey.

The National Honors Society's full membership meets Thursday the 25th after school at 2:15 in the Auditorium.

SHE, a new woman empowerment group at Central meets tomorrow in room 513.

From September 22nd to the 26th, the following College Reps will be at Central in the CRC. ONon Tuesday, Princeton U at 10:15 and Northwestern College St. Paul at 11:50. On Wednesday, The University of St. Thomas at 8:00 and Carleton College at 10:15. Tufts University will be here on Thursday at 10:15 and so will Normandale Community College at 11:30. Finally, on Friday, the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee will be here at 1:00.

The Alpine ski team Thursday is having an important informational meeting this Thursday. The meeting will take place in the cafeteria at 7:00pm. All skiers, snowboarder, and parents are welcome.

On Friday night the Boys soccer team prevailed against the Como Park Cougars in Overtime 2-1. Sam Diatta Scored the winning Goal to keep the boys undefeated in Conference.

Today the Central Minutemen boys soccer team takes on the Johnson Governors at Griffin stadium, at 7pm. The boys will be defending their number one spot at the top of the conference and improve their record to 8-0.

The Girls Soccer team is still undefeated in conference play after defeating the Como Park Cougars 4-0. The Girls play tonight at 5 against the Johnson Governors at Griffin Stadium.

On Friday 3 members of the Minnesota Vikings came to Central. Micheal Bouware, Odis Griggsbe, Le'Troy Guion, and defensive line coach Karl Dunbar came to Central stadium after school to sign auto graphs. Lots of Centrals students came to support the Vikings and to ask questions.
