Today, the season of Lent begins for many Christians. Many Christians will also celebrate Ash Wednesday today.

Registration for all AP classes ends this Friday. Please see Ms. Warner Tonyan or your AP teacher as soon as possibe!

Governor Tim Pawlenty has proclaimed this week School Counceling week. Please thank your councelors for their terrific work.

GSA meets this Thursday in room 565. Yearbook pictures will be taken, all supporters should attend.

Book club meets today, in the library from 2-3pm. This months book will be "Joust" by Mercedes Lackey. Students can pick up a book from Mrs. Erickson in the library.

(IS)Today during advisory, students will nominate 3 boys and 3 girls from their class for royalty for Snow Days Coronation. Freshman will nominate for their Lord and Lady, Sophomores: Duke and Duchess, Juniors: Prince and Princess, and Seniors for their King and Queen.

Tonight Central hosts its annual parent and student Showcase, beginning at 6:00pm. Prospective Parents and sudents will tour Central looking at the school and the programs. At least one member from each department will attened.

The French Club is hosting a Mardi Gras party this Friday in the Black Box -from 7 -10. Students are encouraged to join the Mardi Gras spirit and come in costume, wear Mardi Gra beads or just wear a mask. The Mardi Gras party starts at 7 and is just $3 at the door.

Seniors and parents: College Goal Sunday is Febuary 10, at 1 PM in the Central Auditorium. Here, students can get help applying for student loans. Attending students could win $500 in a drawing for a scholarship! For more information, see your counselor.

Yesterdays Famous African American Quote was by Maya Angelo. Many people contributed to the contest and there were many correct answers. Three winners were selected and the winners are Kayla Hunt in room 262, Lennisha Walker in room 399, and Suzy Xiong in room 406. Winners can come to room 101 during advisory to collect you prize. (IS) Todays Famous African American quote is:"Prejudice is learned. It's not a self-winding watch."

Measurement for Caps and Gowns is taking place all this week in Senior Advisories.

Students who have signed-up to volunteer at the Hmong charter school, Community of Excellence: there will be an orientation this Thursday, Feb. 7 at 2:45pm at their school. Any students intersted in volunteering, please see Ms. Yang in the Counseling Office.

Today's Black History Month Advisory trivia question is: What happened on September 15, 1963 at 10:22 am in Birmingham, Alabama? Please bring your answers to Coach Howell in room 556. The advisory with the most correct answers will recieve a free breakfast from CMEP.

Badminton open gym continues tomorrow morning. Come to the gym at 6 am. Rackets will be provided.

9th grade boy's still interested in playing basketball for the freshman team should see Coach Howell in room 556 before 12:00 today.

All boys interested in Tennis this spring should attend the informational meeting Friday Feb. 8th in room 274.
