Today is May Day which is celebrated by many cultures around the world as the beginning of the spring season.

This weekend is the celebration of Cinco de Mayo on St. Paul's West Side. Today is a car show, tomorrow is the parade, and the festival which celebrates Hispanic culture will continue until Sunday.

This week was Muslim Awareness Week, guest speaker Mallerie Sheink from the Islamic Resource Group was here in the auditorium 5th and 6th period to talk about "Women in Islam".

Elections for next year's student council will take place next week during lunch in the lobby May 5th, 6th, and 7th.

Seniors; today is the last day to submit applications for Central High Scholarships. These scholarships can be worth thousands of dollars so submit your application materials to a counselor or Mary Krejce in the CRC. If you have any questions see your counselor.

Seniors who did not pick up graduation announcements can get them in room 420 during lunch today.

Prom committee meets on Monday after school at 2:15 in Ms Olson's room.

Prom tickets for the May 9th "Night in Paris" at the River Center are being sold in the lobby for $35. Only cash will be accepted.

Students interested in donating blood to the student council blood drive should sign up next week in the lobby. Students must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. The bloodmobile will be at Central on Friday May 15th.

Community service hours are available for all NHS members next friday from 7 to 8 p.m. Come to the gym to setting up chairs in preparation for the IB exams. For more information contact Mr Cherin in room 461

Anime club meets today after school in room 326. They will be hosting a party, members should bring snacks and any Japanese games you have.

Due to unknown reasons the CMEP talent show is canceled.

The multicultural festival takes place today at one o clock in the cafeteria, lobby, and auditorium. The festival will feature traditional dress, dancing music, and most importantly food from over 40 nations and ethnicities! Tickets for the food items students have been cooking since yesterday sell for 50 cents, and food items sell for one to three of these tickets.

(pics) In track and field news, the boys and girls teams defeated Humboldt, Como and Johnson in a quad meet last night at Griffin stadium.

In Golf news, yesterday the Boy's team defeated the Harding Knights 10-2, the Humbolt Hawks 10-2 and tied the Como Cougars 12-12 in a quad match at Keller Golf course. The Girl's Golf team played at Cedar Home defeating Johnson 8-4. The Boy's next match is at Keller next Tuesday at 2:15 and the Girl's play on Tusday at Highland Park National at 2:15.

Today the Centrals girls Badminton Team has a match today against the Harding Knights. The Minutemaids are currently in third place, and he knights are in first. The game is at Harding at 3:15.

Central's first place baseball team takes on the Harding knights tonight at 3:45.

Today on the Dunning field the girls softball team plays the Johnson Governors at 4 o'clock .
