The annual band winter concert took place last night in Central's auditorium. The Jazz Band, Varsity band, and Concert band played in front of a packed auditorium and put on quite a show. Here is Maddy Longhurst with the story.

Your chance to see winter concerts has not melted away. Central's award winning choirs are having their annual winter concert next week. The concert is on Thursday at 7:00pm in the auditorium. In preparation The Central Singers will perform Saturday at Park Square Theatre before the play Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol.

Participating advisories in the "Peace for the Holidays" door decorating contest sponsored by the M-Team, will have the door judged next Monday and Tuesday. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, followed by a prize breakfast on Thursday.

Auditions for the ONE ACT play competition are next Monday the 15th and Wednesday the 17th, after school in Ms.Hutchinson's room 518. Please sign up outside the office or in the black box.

The Council of Black Minnesotans is sponsoring a Martin Luther King essay contest. The theme is "Education: American Dream or Public Crisis." See Mr. Schlukebier for entry forms. All essays are due January 9th. Prizes include laptop computers.

The student council is sponsoring a sock drive. This will continue today 'til next week. New socks will be donated to Sharing and Caring Hands. A free breakfast will be provided for the winning advisory.

G.S.A.'s first movie night will show the classic film "Some like it Hot" featuring Marylin Monroe. The movie night is next Monday at 2:15 in room 517.

Mr. Freeberg's advisory, will be collecting canned and box foods all next week. Students who would like to help may drop off Canned Boxes and box foods to room 257-258. The food will be dropped off at Second Harvest a week from today.

Last night the Central Wrestling team lost to the Johnson Governors 39-27 in a close conference meet. First time wrestling winners include Adrian Wood, Henry Patterson, Freddy Xiong, Erick Goodlow. Other winners include Hinok Yacob, Olumide Ige and Sam Hansen. The Teams next competes in the Minneapolis Edison Tournament on Saturday at 9am at Edison

The girls basketball team takes on Minneapolis Washburn tonight in their fourth non-conference game at 7 P.M. in Central's newly reconstructed gym.
