Tuesday February 17th - Friday February 20th MSA and MESIBAH is hosting Hunger Awareness week. This will include donating money and pledging to fast on Friday the 20th.You can pledge in all 3 lunches next week. You have the choice to fast from sunrise to sunset or from sunset to sunset. All fasters will be rewarded with a Banquet after school from 6:30-8:30 in the auditorium. Featuring live acts and guest speakers. Food will be catered by Cecil's Deli, Lee & Dee's Barbecue Express and other fine eateries.

On February 26, Central will be offering the Accuplacer Assessment test for 11th and 12th graders interested in community colleges. Sign up in room 367 with Ms. Krejce. Space is limited so sign up early.

(PICS) Last night, at the Xcel energy center, 6,000 people attended the Departure ceremony for the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division, who are being deployed to Iraq. The governor, mayor, and some Central graduates attended the event, and every guest received a steak dinner, provided by local restaurants. The dinner was the largest recorded in Minnesota History. One thousand and thirty seven soldiers, many from the twin cities, will be deployed, including Master Sgt. Chris Schlukebier and Central Grad Sgt. Zach Jones. We will keep them and thier families in our thoughts during this difficult time and wish for thier safe return.

Ain Dah Tung's 11th Annual "Cherish The Children" Pow Wow takes place in Central gymnasium Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m. This event is one of the largest Native America gatherings in the State of Minnesota, and is open to all. The even features cerimonial dancing and drumming.

The badminton pre-season meeting is today after school. If you are interested in playing badminton this spring, attend this meeting to get the necessary forms and information. No badminton experience necessary to join the team. The meeting is in room 262 right after school. See Mr. Reinhardt or Mr. Galoway if you cannot attend.

Central High School seniors planning to attend post-secondary schools and their parents are invited to attend "Financial Aid Night" at Central High School tomorrow night, February 12th from 6 to 8p.m in the library. Here is Steve Olson with more info.

Book Club meets today after school to discuss comedy and humor in American liturature in the media center

Central's Habitat for Humanity competes in "Change Wars" against Highland High School's Habitat for Humanity this week. Donate money to kids with buckets in the lunch room for a fundraiser to build houses for the homeless. If we beat Highland we get to pie their mascot.

The literary magazine is now accepting poetry,short stories,artwork, photography,and creative writing for the next issue of "Verbal promiscuity"
The collection box is outside room 480.

This weeks softball clinic for Central Softball players has been changed to Thursday after school at Jimmy lee Recreation Center. Also remember there is free batting cages on Sunday nights at the Rice & Arlington batting cages from 5:30-7:30.

(VIDEO)Last night, the Central Minutemen boys basketball team, now 5-2 in conference, lost a close game against the Johnson Governors, now 7-0 in conference, with a score of 71-70. Highlights of the game came from lead scorer Jordan Larson, with 27 points, he battled all the way till his 5th foul within the last minute of the game and Cameron Smith converting a 4 point play, adding 5 points to the overall score. Other lead scorers include Taylor Smaller with 12 points, Nate Kado with 8 points, Ledarion Horton with 6 points, and Micheal Adams with 5 points. The boys next game is on Thursday, where they will play the Highland Park Scots, who is 3-4 in conference, at Highland. Tip-off starts at 7.

The girls basketball team defeated the Johnson Govenors last night 73 to 43. 5'11'' guard Theairra Taylor lead the team with 18 points, along with 5'6'' Freshmen guard Jen'Von'ta Hill with 18 points, and 5'9'' guard Samantha Robinson Ricks with 13. The girls are undeafeated in conference with a 9-0 record. They look to play the Highland Scots Thursday night at home.
