Today is Monday, October 1st.
And Welcome to the Central Morning News.

Central High School has won the B96 School Spirit Contest. Today, the musical group B5 from the Disney Channel will present a special Central-only concert in the gym during part of 6th Period. Today's schedule will be modified. The new schdule is in the teachers' boxes. 6th period will start at 12:00 today. Students will be called to the gym from 6th period for the B5 Concert. Students are to sit in grade level areas - just as we do for most pepfests. This is a special treat and honor for Central High because of our great school spirit - Let's show that spirit with a super concert that shows respect and consideration to each other and the Band - B5.

Pictures for ID cards, Yearbook, and personal picture packages are being taken today in room 420 for students who were absent or not prepared last week. Students should bring an admit and pass when they come for pictures. These make-up pictures will be taken from 7:30 until 1:00 P.M. today at room 420

The following colleges will be here during the week in the CRC. Monday- North Hennepin Community College. Tuesday- St.John's, St.Ben's, Yale, St.Olaf. Thursday- Knox College, Kenyon College, Concordia-Moorhead. Friday- Oberlin College, Harvey Mudd, St.Thomas, Chicago University and Occidental College.

Central will be attending the Minnesoa College Fair on October 10th from 8:45 to 11:15. Juniors and seniors are invited to attend, but you need a permission slip to go. Permission slips are avalible in room 367 and space is limited.

(IS)This week is Homecoming Week! Today is Get Up and Go Day; Tomorrow is Twin Day. Dress like someone else; Wednesday is Random Act of Kindness Day. Also on Wednesday, there is Coronation and a scavenger hunt for free dance tickets. Coronation is FREE! ; Thursday is Rock the Red and Black Day, with the Homecoming pepfest during sixth hour. The Homecoming Football game is also on Thursday. The week ends with the Homecoming Dance on Friday night in the cafeteria.

(IS)Homecoming dance tickets are on sale for 5 dollars each. Students can purchase tickets during all three lunches in the lobby.

The Senior class Council election results are not available - One advisory did not vote and will try to get that done today. Officer primary results should be available tomorrow. The Senior Class Final Officer election will take place later this week.

Students who are down credits should see Annette Nelson in Room 385 about The Extended Day Progam. The Extended Day Program is an afterschool program that gives students the chance to make up credits.

On October 10th, Indian Education students will be going to the National College Fair in Minneapolis, if students need another permission slip, extras are available in the office. It's a free event, and all forms are due by today.

Acting students that are going to see the play "Home" in Mpls at the Pillsbury House. Have your $1.00 in by the end of the day to Ms. Mandell.

This Monday starts the "Ban the books" week in the library. There will be a display of the top 100 most challenging books that some people would want off the shelves. Some books include J.K. Rowling's, "Harry Potter", Maya Angelo's, "I know why the caged bird sings", and Mark Twain's "Huckleberry Finn"

(IS)On Friday, Central defeated Highland 18-8. By winning, the Minutemen brught home the musket, and it will be secured within the walls of Central for another year. Central was led by Jordan Larson with three touchdown catches.
