Senior honors night was last night. Central's 12th graders were recognized for their outstanding work the past 4 years. The top 10 seniors were introduced and the seniors also recognized staff that made a difference.

This Monday is Memorial Day. It began in 1868 but it was known as "Decoration Day". Flowers and other decorations were placed at grave sites to honor the brave men and women who died in the name of their country. There will be no school on Monday in observance of this holiday.

Students interested in becomming a student leader at the 9th grade retreat in the fall can pick up a pink application in the main office on the counter. Applications are due by May 30.
----

A representative from University of WIsconson River Falls will be here NEXT Thursday. They will be in the CRC to help students fill out their application and answer any questions.

Seeds of Change a group for African American males and their allies will have a informational meeting about the 2008-2009 school year. Students interested in joining should come next Wednesday at 2:15 in the Black Box.

Roots and Shoots and the NHS Environmental Committee will sponsor a school clean-up after school next Tuesday. Everyone is welcome to help out. All who wish to participate should meet in Ms. Houdek's room directly after school Tuesday. A picnic will follow the clean-up.

Paintball club meets today after school in room 514.

The baseball team lost their first game of the playoffs yesterday to North St. Paul. It was a close game, but the Polars scored 4 runs in the six inning to give the Minutemen a 7 to 5 loss. Anton Shnider was 1 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBI. The boys play again next week at Midway Stadium.

Tennis and Badmiton players must turn in uniforms this week to Mr. Galloway or Mr Spicer.

The badminton team potluck banquet and award ceremony is today at 2:30. It will be held at Dunning Park just west of Central on Marshall. Seniors bring main dishes, Juniors bring beverages, Sophomores bring side dishes and Freshman bring deserts. Next years captains will also be elected.
