Today is Ash Wednesday, also known as the beginning of the 40 day observance of Lent. Lent is practiced by Christians, and is a time for Fasting, Denial, and Reflection. Lent ends on Easter Sunday, a very significant Holy Day for Christians.

Friday night in Black box Page Norman will present her play "The Story Of Mammy a play about love & oppression. Showtime is at 7:00

Last night in Central's auditorium, Central hosted a combined concert featuring Central, Capitol Hill, and Ramsey Junior Highs orchestras. The bands played to a full house and highlights included Centrals Chamber Orchestra performing "Firework Music" and "Ragtime" & "Royal Dances" a combined piece from Central, Ramsey, and Capitol Hill bands. The bands were directed by Matthew Oyen, John Middleton, and Corey Needlemen.

Book club meets today after school in the library. We are discussing the book "Snow White and the Seven Samurai," by Tom Holt.

Science Bowl teams A and B meet Thursday in room 420 after school. You will be taking a yearbook picture with your trophy.

There will be an extended advisory this Friday for the purpose of Registration for next year. Registration forms will be distributed. Periods 1, 2, and 3 will be shortened.

There will be a CMEP meeting on Thursday at 8:45am in room 399 to take a yearbook picture.

Senior M.E.P. will have its yearbook picture taken tomorrow in advisory. All seniors in M.E.P. should come down to the lobby during advisory.

All boys who are interested in golf, today after school there is an informational meeting at 2:15 in room 262.

Boys Swimming and Diving Sections start tomorrow. Come and support our boys at RIchfield Middle School at 5:30 pm.

Yesterday the Central Boy's Basketball team lost to the Arlington Phoenix 54-46. Despite the loss Ledarion Horton made 15 points with Jordan Larson fallowing close behind with 14 points. Central is now third in conference with an overall record of 16-6.

Badminton Open gym continues tomorrow morning at 6 am.
------
The Girls basketball team defeated the Arlington Phoenix 75 to 20 last night. 5'11" senior Theairra Taylor lead the team with 16 points, and 5'6'' senior Kyana Johnson had 14. The girls remain undefeated in conference with 11 wins, and an overall record of 19-5 this season. The Minutemaids last home game is friday night against Como.
